Everestrecords Zwitscherland Tour 08

Strotter
The musician and artist Christoph Hess (Solothurn, *1968) is generating dense soundstructures by using manipulated and prepared (Lenco-) turntables. The anacronistic machineries have dual roles as objects and as instruments. The first live impact is as installations, then the sounds start to grab the listeners' attention. The auditive level surpasses the visual one. Therefore, the optical comprehension of how the sound is generated plays an important role. Hardly using sounds from LP's - if so, they are cut or scotched - the main source of sound are the prepared pick-ups (i.e. sewing needles or strings instead of the diamond or the extended use of rubber bands). The treatment involves the unclean nature of the sounds as part of the music. Beside the work as a musician, Strotter Inst. is creating sound objects and installations out of turntables. The abbreviation "Inst." can both mean "instrument" or "installation".

Meienberg
1999 meienberg released his first solo-project called "holy mud". A cd with five tracks, recorded on a 4-track tascam-machine. 88-01 he played in several bands as singer and on guitar in projects like nostress, chromic flakes, sick family, plug, rotor (a project with musicans from màs a tierra). during this time he was checking out different styles, working also with old drum-machines , synthesizers and computer. with "holy mud" he tried to follow other ways, having the full control over the songs by himself and mixing together the components of the musicdirections he likes. "soundcollages packed into songs, dark and very intim" (music scene). he allways had the idea that music should create some pictures in the heads and that the importance of his music is to describe a mood, or producing some associations, kind of soundtracks. A sound or/and a song has to touch you somewhere. this doesn`t have to be only in a pleasent way. It has to groove but also containing some bizarre moods. the moment when you remember things, but you can`t remember where from...
